AFO with NEURO HiSWING R+ System Ankle Joint
The patient in this video was diagnosed with polyneuropathy in 2013. Due to the impaired transmission of stimuli in the nerve pathways in her leg, she cannot stand still and has balance issues. As you can see in the before video, the foot simply falls to the ground and an audible slapping sound can be heard as she walks. In the past, the patient has already been treated with two different SAFOs. However, standing in a stable balance was not possible and she still had to concentrate on walking too much.
The Vitalcentrum Brandes & Diesing in Hildesheim has now produced an AFO with a NEURO HiSWING R+ system ankle joint for the patient. With her new orthosis, the patient has regained her mobility. The after video shows that she stands much more securely and can concentrate less on walking. For the first time, she was able to catch a ball thrown to her by the physiotherapist and throw it back. Short, fast movements are no longer a problem, and she is even playing badminton again.
