Sustainability Awareness at FIOR & GENTZ
Sustainability is firmly anchored in our corporate strategy. We set ambitious goals and stop to understand the current and future challenges, those directly in front of us and on the horizon. Only with this understanding do we move forward – in an open, determined and pioneering manner.
Shared Responsibility
Sustainability is of central importance to our employees, customers, and partners. Today’s decisions shape tomorrow’s world. Under the aegis of Responsible for Tomorrow®, WE work together to ensure a future worth living for generations to come.
Sustainability Means a Sustainable Future for Business and People
We develop products and offer services to improve people’s mobility and quality of life. To increase the chances of success for future generations, we focus on climate protection and sustainability. We are committed to transparency, use responsible production methods and continuously work to use resources more efficiently and avoid waste.
In short: For us, sustainability means making the future viable!
Less Paper – a Big Step with a Small Footprint
We expect to save about 5.8 tonnes of paper in 2026. That's about 1.4 million A5 pages, which stacked one on the other would be taller than the Cologne Cathedral. We’re also significantly reducing our use of water, energy and chemicals used in paper production. In sum, we are reducing CO₂ emissions by around 7 tonnes, which is equivalent to driving a car around 36,000 kilometres, or almost an entire round trip around the world, which is equivalent to the annual carbon footprint of a single person.
A small step in our day-to-day, a big step for the environment.
How will We Achieve This?
We have been sending invoices in both paper and electronic form for quite some time now. As of 1 January 2026, we have completely switched to electronic invoices.
We are now taking another important step towards the future: starting in mid-January 2026, we will be providing 29 Instructions for Use for Qualified Specialists in Orthopaedic Technology exclusively online. Every product delivery will now include a small insert with a QR code linking to the digital instructions for use in all available languages. Just scan the code and get started!
What to many may seem like a technological change is a vital part of our sustainability strategy. We long asked ourselves how we could further reduce our ecological footprint. With the new EU Implementing Regulation 2025/1234, which permits electronic instructions for use for professional users, the law has finally caught up and removed our fetters. Today we are availing ourselves of the freedom we always wanted. For the environment. For our customers. For the future.
Instructions for Use for Patients will continue to be mandatory in printed form but will also be available online.
Previously, older instructions for use had to be requested individually. Now they are available digitally at any time via our new archive page. This means that all previous instructions for use are now collectively stored and accessible online.
Our goal remains clear: making processes smarter, conserving resources and creating sustainable solutions that add real value.
