Summary: Custom-made orthoses for the lower extremity can enable patients with neurological disorders to walk or contribute to an improvement of their gait. However, the orthosis’ alignment, which is already determined during the making of the negative cast, is decisive for the efficacy of an orthosis. The appropriate technical equipment and a well-structured guide needed for transferring the individual normal posture with its correct joint angles to a negative cast have been lacking, until now. A new production technique and a new tool will help to avoid mistakes when planning the orthotic treatment and making the negative cast.
