NEURO SWING INFINI-C AFO

The NEURO SWING INFINI-C AFO is a customisable and configurable ankle foot orthosis made of carbon. It is suitable for patients with a combined weakness of the calf and foot lifting muscles due to neurological conditions, who can be treated with a unilateral NEURO SWING Carbon system ankle joint.

The components of the NEURO SWING INFINI-C AFO are produced using state-of-the-art, patented technology. A continuous carbon thread is laid down layer by layer along the simulated load paths and then saturated with epoxy resin under high pressure in an injection mould. This process enables ideal fibre alignment without requiring the carbon fibres to be reworked, cut or ground. The innovative material concept ensures an unprecedented balance between rigidity, where stability is required, and mobility, where flexibility is needed.

The centrepiece of the NEURO SWING INFINI-C AFO is the carbon ventral lower leg shell with an integrated attachment anchor. Due to its high stability, it enables patients with weakened calf muscles to lean forward with their lower leg. This specifically counteracts compensatory hyperextension of the knee, effectively supporting the remaining activity of the calf muscles and reducing spastic reactions.

The foot piece with an integrated stainless steel stirrup can be produced in a rigid or partially flexible design. Partially flexible foot pieces in the forefoot area support the stretching of the calf muscles during pre swing, which supports knee flexion during this gait phase. In cases of (particularly) low muscle strength of the plantar flexors, rigid foot pieces provide greater stability when standing and in the late stance phases of walking.

The orthosis is completed by the established NEURO SWING Carbon system ankle joint. Its durable, carbon fibre-reinforced joint case is lightweight and sturdy, and thanks to the water-resistant spring unit sleeves, the exchangeable precompressed spring units are also dirt- and water-resistant. A material assembly set with padding and a strap enables additional adjustments to the wearer's needs.

When combined, all system components result in a very lightweight, versatile and cutting-edge orthosis – tailored to meet complex treatment requirements.

The NEURO SWING INFINI-C AFO:

  • consists of a ventral lower leg shell made of carbon incl. an integrated carbon attachment anchor.
  • can be equipped, depending on requirements, with a rigid or partially flexible foot piece with a stainless steel system stirrup and a sliding bushing.
  • features a NEURO SWING Carbon system ankle joint.
  • includes two exchangeable precompressed spring units adjusted to the muscle strength of the patient.
  • is delivered with a material assembly set consisting of padding, fastener system and hook dots.

The entire orthosis can be individually configured using the FIOR & GENTZ Orthosis Configurator. All components are configured to suit the specified patient data. At the end of the configuration, it is possible to generate a calculation for the cost bearer based on the previously performed calculations. Once the costs have been approved, the components for the production of the NEURO SWING INFINI-C AFO can be ordered directly from the FIOR & GENTZ webshop and, after delivery, assembled in the workshop by a qualified specialist in orthopaedic technology.
