Orthosis Configuration – which orthosis is the right one?

After having talked to the patient in person and after having gathered the relevant data by means of the physical examination, it is time to plan the custom-made orthosis. The following questions must always be considered:

  • How should the orthosis be constructed?
  • Which functions should the orthosis and the system joints be able to fulfil?
  • Which orthosis type is best suited for the patient?
  • How high is the load on the orthosis and all the system components?

FIOR & GENTZ took this as an opportunity to develop the Orthosis Configurator (registered trademark) over the course of a decade. This web-based software programme supports you in selecting the ideal system components and materials by requiring precise information and a sophisticated calculation system.

With the Orthosis Configurator, you can plan an orthosis for the lower extremity. You can save the configuration with all the detailed orthosis data in your company profile. The list of saved configurations can be sorted and filtered according to a variety of criteria. This way, you can easily find and access configurations that have already been carried out and, if necessary, change and save them again.

The calculated configuration result is an important component of transparent treatment documentation for the entire interdisciplinary team (patient, physician, therapist, cost bearer and other parties involved). In addition, our collection of online tutorials provides a guide to an efficient, effective and successful orthotic treatment. All work steps are recorded in a complete documentation. This way, the final orthosis can be reproduced using the Orthosis Configurator and the online tutorials with all the processes that have been completed.

As an individual function, you receive a calculation in Excel format at the end of each configuration, which can be used as a realistic estimate of the expected costs for the production of an orthosis. It includes the calculation of all required system components, consumables, real quantities that are required and the necessary labour time.

The configuration of an orthosis with the Orthosis Configurator is free of charge and can be done without prior login via access data. Use the completed orthotic treatment sheet and visit the Orthosis Configurator via our website. You will then be guided through the following steps and get recommendations for the orthosis construction, the system joints’ functionality, necessary tools and production techniques, including suitable online tutorials.

1 Patient Data

In the first step, you enter all patient data that are relevant for planning your orthosis.

2 Orthosis Design and System Components

In the second, central step, you receive recommendations regarding the orthosis design and the system components. The recommendations are functionally adjusted to the patient data and will withstand all expected loads. Info buttons with technical explanations will help you to make the right choice for your individual treatment.

3 Individual Adjustments

In the third step, you can adapt the shape, bend and material of your system joints and system components.

4 Result

In the last step, you can save, send and print your configuration result for your treatment documentation. You can furthermore generate a calculation and order all selected products directly from our webshop.
